Information you give us

This includes the ingredients you choose to avoid or prefer, a display name or username if you create one, content you add to community features, and anything you send us when you contact us.

Information from your use of Vetta

This includes the products you scan or look up, the photos you take of labels and menus, your searches, scores and other activity in the app, and your interactions with other users.

Device and technical information

This includes an identifier for your copy of the app, your device type, operating system, time zone, and IP address, and similar technical details.

Location

If you allow it, we use your device’s location to show places near you. You can turn location access off at any time in your device settings.

Camera

If you allow it, we use your camera to scan barcodes and take photos of labels and menus.

We use information to:

• provide Vetta, including scanning, scores, search, maps and community features
• personalize what you see based on your preferences
• maintain, secure and improve Vetta, and fix problems
• respond to you and provide support
• comply with the law and enforce our terms

We share information only as described here:

• Service providers that help us run Vetta, such as hosting, data storage, data processing, artificial intelligence, search, mapping and product data providers. They may only use it to provide their services to us.
• Other users, when you use community features. For example, friends and community members may see your name, username, scores and recent activity.
• For legal reasons, when we believe it’s required by law or needed to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, Vetta or others.
• In a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
• With your permission, for example when you share your list.

We do not sell your personal information.

We keep information for as long as we need it to provide Vetta and for the purposes described in this policy, unless the law requires or allows us to keep it longer. When we no longer need it, we delete it or make it anonymous.

We use reasonable measures to protect your information. No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee its security.

You can change your preferences in the app, turn off location or camera access in your device settings, and choose not to use community features.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or limit how we use it. To make a request, email privacy@usevetta.com. We may need information from you to verify your request, and we won’t treat you differently for using these rights. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Vetta isn’t intended for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have different data protection laws than where you live.

When you visit usevetta.com, we and our hosting provider may collect basic technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver and secure the site.

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll change the date at the top, and if a change is significant we’ll let you know in the app or by other means.
